Buddies
"Each participant is assigned a volunteer, trained ‘Buddy’ who is typically a little older and neurotypical. This Buddy works with their player individually and makes sure they are safe, engaged, supported, and having fun. The player-Buddy relationship is maintained throughout the course of a season, resulting in strong interpersonal bonds and an establishment of trust and confidence that allows each player to achieve their full potential."

Volunteer Hours
To receive credit for volunteer hours, Buddies must attend a
minimum of 4 sessions during a 6 week season.
RegistrationBuddies between the age of 11 and 18 need to register through the same registration portal as players.
The last question in the registration is
"Are you registering a PLAYER or a VOLUNTEER?" and select
VOLUNTEERStep-by-Step1. Log in or create an account on MontclairSoccer.com and either choose and existing player who wants to volunteer or choose "Add Player" for anyone new to the MUSC's online registration portal
2. Return to dashboard and select the "# Programs Available Button" and on the following screen choose "TOPSoccer Spring 2026 (For Players with Disabilities)
3. Next you will be taken to the registration questions. The final question is
"Are you registering a PLAYER or a VOLUNTEER?" and select
VOLUNTEER

4. Once registration is complete they will be added to the Buddies & Student Leader communication lists and receive a confirmation email with info to prepare them for their first session.
Buddies age 18 and older must register as volunteers in the TOPSoccer (Players with Disabilities) 2025-2026 program through MontclairSoccer.com.
All adults will be required to complete coaching compliance tasks before they are able to work with our players. The steps are as follows:
1. Go to your Account Dashboard > Volunteer (left side of screen) > (+) Find Volunteer Roles
2. To the right of TOPSoccer (Players with Disabilities) 2025-2026 click "View Divisions", then check Top Soccer and click "View Selected Opportunities"
3. You will select "Coach / Buddy (age 18+)"
4. You will be prompted to "Sign up a new user", hit Continue, and complete the registration for the volunteer.
5. Once registered, volunteers will be added to the Buddies & Student Leader communication lists and receive a confirmation email which will detail the
mandatory coach compliance tasks which include...
6. Risk Assessment (Background check paid for by MUSC)
7. Concussion Certificate
8. SafeSport Training (approx. 90 minute course through USYS paid for by MUSC)
