Montclair United Soccer Club
Hello, my name is VeJay Vicino and I am a trainer with Montclair United. I believe in teaching children to enjoy the sport of soccer by allowing their personality and unique characteristics to shine through as a part of their play style. I encourage my players to focus on how they may learn and grow from each game as players, as well as individuals. While adversity and challenge is a hallmark of sports, I believe that children should focus on overcoming these challenges rather than the final scoreline. I believe that some of our best lessons as athletes learned when we “lose” in sports, and I encourage my players to focus on the positives that can be taken from what is normally seen as negative situation. While I was student at Rutgers New Brunswick, my professor for “The Sociology of Sports” class told me that the number one reason people stop playing sports is because of a negative coaching experience. Since then, I have worked hard to ensure that I will never be “that” coach for a child, and I work to make sure every child has just as much fun playing soccer on my team as they do with their friends at recess.
My only goal is to instill a life long love for the beautiful game in every child...or at least make sure they don’t dread coming to practice.
I received both my F, and E state coaching license in 2016.
